PSP Firmware 5.02 Released

Sony has officially released it — PSP Firmware 5.02.

The good news: Dark_AleX’s latest version of PSARDumper is able to successfully dump and decrypt it.

The bad news: well, there is none really… It’s unlikely we’ll see custom firmware 5.02 M33 from this; the changes are nothing too significant. Maybe a patch for 5.00 M33 is in order? We’ll see…

PSARDumper with Support for Dumping & Decrypting PSP-3000 Modules

Moving forward at Sony-sonic speed is Dark_AleX who has now successfully decrypted those modules specific to the PSP-3000.

Do note: this program is NOT for the PSP-3000 itself; it’s intended to run on the PSP Fat (1000) or Slim (2000). The decrypted modules are for research and educational purposes.

About new D@tel Battery

You might have seen a new Battery that has come into the market, as always with a price and with a good advertising program...

Well, this post is just to answer some mails that i've recieved.

1. To have a LED indicator ON, doesn't means that you can install cfw or hack anything. Remember 088v3 mobos? Right.
2. It's spreading like a timebomb that it can be hacked and so on. Well, what any user can see is an interesting campaign to promote an article that is not yet released. It would be interesting to see.. how about an old "hello world" like on Noobz time, instead of a "buy today" call?
3. Just to remember all this things up, LED indicator ON and nothing on screen means directly what Dark_AleX explained here about the preIPL.

Would be an interesting step, indeed, in case that the protection on 3k would be sort of a signal encryption or a change of protocol instead of just a change of the battery pin communication system; so, until more proofs come into play, i would not definetly go in a rush to buy it xD.

PSP-3000 Hacked? By Datel?!

Hrm… Well, as far as I know, there’s no official confirmation from anyone just yet… But according to *cough* Datel, they’ve created what would seem to be a Pandora-like battery for both the PSP-2000 and the thought to be unhacked 3000 — alas, Datel’s Lite Blue Tool Service Mode Battery.

It’s said the battery will offer the ability to toggle between normal and service mode; as well, the Lite Blue Tool features a LED power gauge indicator for your convenience. Of course in service mode you’re given the advantage of direct access to the PSP’s flash leaving the device fully hackable — downgrade, install a custom firmware, do whatever desired…

The Lite Blue Tool will be available November 28th retailing for $29.99 across North America and $19.99 in the UK.

Now the question is: speculation or realer than Real Deal Holyfield? I’d say it’s likely but we’ll know for sure in the coming days…

Although there were early indications that the PSP3000 had embedded Service Mode capability, it was clear that silicon level investigation would be required to understand the new mechanism.

Once the target IC had been identified, our engineers then de-capsulated the device and prepared it for hi-resolution SEM imaging.

The engineers then used circuit extraction to reveal the additional service mode only encryption functions which were not present on earlier generation PSPs. In order to be compatible with these encryption functions, Datel created an advanced IC controller which will be put straight into use in their newest service mode battery technology.

iR Shell v4.8 Released

eleased in favour of the PSP Slim is an iR Shell update from none other than AhMan. Everything you should know is detailed directly below — new PSP Slim features and bug fixes…

Installation: download and install iR Shell 4.7 first; update to version 4.8 by overwriting the original files from the appropriate package.

iR Shell v4.8 features:

* Added support to homebrews that are built with the option PSP_LARGE_MEMORY, that is, to use the extra slim memory. When running these homebrews under iR Shell, they will have access to another 26MB slim RAM. Pls note 2MB of slim RAM is reserved for iR Shell.
* Enhance the HTML Viewer (originally developed by Dark_AleX) to use the extra slim memory. These should help to reduce “Not enough memory” message when accessing larger web contents. The HTML Viewer can be accessed via predefined homebrew #1 icon.

iR Shell v4.8 bug fixes:

* Some homebrews weren’t correctly recognized by iR Shell and application names were displayed as garbage.
* When setting np9660 mode in iR Configurator, some homebrews failed to launch.
* Launching PS1 games via popsloader wasn’t working properly.
* Copying a large file from ms0: to nethost0: will crash the system.
